Vol. 396 No. 2

Written Answers. - Imprisonment of Irish Woman in France.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

83 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs , arising out of his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 65 of 1 February 1990, if he has received a request for assistance from the family of the person concerned (details supplied); the action he will take in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Since replying to the Deputy's question I have received requests for consular assistance from both the citizen concerned and her family. On their receipt I instructed the embassy in the country concerned to visit the citizen and this has now been done. The embassy are currently pursuing with the appropriate authorities the questions which she raised during the visit.

The embassy will remain in touch with the citizen.
