Vol. 396 No. 2

Written Answers. - Education Grant.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

142 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education, having regard to her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 88 of 15 February 1989, if the person concerned is entitled to the non-adjacent level of higher educational grant in 1990, having regard to the fact that at least one-third of lectures will take place at a centre 80 miles from the student's home and college and having regard to the fact that a further one-third of lectures will also entail travel outside a 15 mile radius from her home; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

In his Parliamentary Question No. 88 of 15 February the Deputy indicated that the lectures for this applicant's course take place in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9. In the light of the Deputy's indication now about the applicant's attendance at lectures for a lengthy period at a considerable distance from her home I have asked my Department to make further inquiries about this case and to review the position, if appropriate, in the light of the results of these inquiries.
