Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Incineration Project.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

178 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment the conditions regarding location, such as area of country, private land or State owned or State agency owned land, which are attached to the applications by the six firms selected to tender for the erection of a central hazardous waste incinerating facility.

In general, the detailed proposals submitted included an assessment of the suitability of a number of possible sites. It has of course been made clear at all stages that the promoter will be responsible for selection of a suitable location as well as for any permissions and permits required. The incineration project will have to comply in every respect with the requirements of the planning code and will be subject to an environmental impact assessment.
