Ceist:44 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí expected to be recruited this year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is planned to recruit 348 Garda trainees this year, which is 48 more than originally projected. Of the 346 young people who are already in training, approximately 260 are expected to be appointed and enrolled as members of the force this year.
