Ceist:101 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Communications the comparative telecommunications charges for industry between Ireland and the rest of the EC.
Vol. 396 No. 4
101 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Communications the comparative telecommunications charges for industry between Ireland and the rest of the EC.
As I have said in this House many times before, a comparison of tariffs among different countries is not meaningful because of the variety and complexity of pricing structures and for other reasons. In general terms, telecommunications charges for business users in Ireland are comparable with the average of corresponding charges in other EC countries. Irish business users will benefit in particular from price reductions of between 20 per cent and 71 per cent for digital private circuits recently announced by Telecom Éireann.
