Vol. 396 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

132 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education if she has received any requests from parents of the Riverstown area of Cork to discuss the inadequate transport system for pupils attending the second level schools outside the Riverstown area.

I have been unable to trace any requests from parents of the Riverstown area of Cork to discuss the school transport system for pupils attending the second level schools outside the Riverstown area. I am satisfied, however, that adequate provision is being made for these pupils in the matter of school transport. Riverstown is in the Cork city catchment area and pupils in the Riverstown area who live at least three miles from their nearest post-primary centre in Cork city are eligible for transport to that centre. Such pupils may also be allowed transport to the Carrigtwohill-Midleton post-primary centre but only from the boundary of the catchment area of that centre.
