Vol. 396 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Loan Scheme Repayments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

21 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if the amount in Housing Finance Agency mortgage repayments being made by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare has been determined in accordance with the terms of the Housing Finance Agency loan scheme, having regard to the fact that that person's only income is a deserted wife's allowance; the reason for the deviation from the terms of the Housing Finance Agency loan scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

38 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if the level of Housing Finance Agency mortgage repayments being made by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare has been determined on the basis of the Housing Finance Agency loan scheme, as set down by him; if he has in any way altered the regulations affecting the level of mortgage repayments with particular reference to mortgage holders whose only income is the deserted wife's allowance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 21 and 38 together.

The administration of the Housing Finance Agency loan scheme is a matter for the local authority acting as agents for the HFA. The mortgage contract which sets out the terms and conditions of the loan is made between the local authority and the individual borrower. It would not, therefore, be appropriate for me to become involved with individual cases. Representations in regard to any case experiencing difficulties should be made in the first instance to the local authority and to the Housing Finance Agency, if necessary.

Any change made in the general conditions of the loan scheme since the mortgage contract in question was made would not have affected the terms of this loan.
