Vol. 396 No. 4

Written Answers. - Balbriggan (Dublin) Road Project Proposal.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

47 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment , given the traffic bottleneck which exists in Balbriggan, County Dublin and the effect which this is having on the industrial growth of the town, the plans, if any, he has for a by-pass; and the estimated starting and completion dates for same.

On 7 February 1990 a road grant of £100,000 was notified to Dublin County Council to enable the local authority to proceed with the development of proposals for a by-pass of Balbriggan.

A draft operational programme for roads and other transport infrastructure has been submitted to the EC Commission in accordance with the Community support framework adopted by the Commission. Pending finalisation of the programme, it is not proposed to indicate the major schemes to be undertaken in the period up to 1993.
