Ceist:71 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Justice the extra resources which are being provided to An Garda Síochána for the establishment of a welfare service in the Force; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Up to now, one welfare office has been assigned to the Garda Síochána. As I have already announced, the service is being expanded by the appointment of three further welfare officers who are taking up their new duties today.
