Ceist:172 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he will provide funding towards the establishment of a hospice homecare unit in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that an application for funding for this service in Clonmel has been submitted to the South Eastern Health board and that the board is considering it in the light of other applications received.
Assistance towards the cost of the project may also be available from the national lottery. Responsibility for allocation of grants from the 1990 national lottery proceeds to local projects will be a matter for the relevant health board.
