Vol. 396 No. 9

Written Answers. - Home Economic Colleges.

John Bruton

Ceist:

202 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education when the current review of the demand for home economics teachers, referred to by her in her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 53 of 7 March 1990, was commenced; and when the colleges affected were first informed that such a review was under way.

John Bruton

Ceist:

205 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the last feasible date by which application forms for places in colleges of home economics for 1990-1991 could be issued to enable the necessary administrative procedures to be completed.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 202 and 205 together.

The demand for home economics teachers is kept under ongoing review by my Department in consultation with the home economics teacher training colleges.

The administrative procedures necessary for the conduct of the entrance examination can be accommodated within the time available. I am not in a position to indicate a precise final date at this time.
