Vol. 397 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water Supply to Islands.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

102 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the necessity of islanders to draw fresh water from the mainland on a daily basis resulting from storm damage; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that severe storms have repeatedly damaged the submarine watermain to Inisbiggle Island. My Department has recently approved Mayo County Council's plans to lay a new watermain from the mainland at Ballycroy. Work on the scheme is expected to commence very shortly.
