182 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education, in view of the fact that agreement has been reached between all the relevant trustees of the post-primary schools in the Gorey area of County Wexford, when the project will go to tender; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The plans for the new post primary school complex in Gorey, originally designed to provide a secondary school and a vocational school, are currently being reviewed in the context of the agreement to provide a single new community school and the latest projections of future pupil numbers to be catered for. Negotiations are also taking place regarding the purchase of a site for the school. Pending completion of this review and the acquisition of the site, I am not in a position to indicate at this stage when tenders for the new school will be invited.
