20 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the total estimated value of Irish agricultural output in each of the years from 1980 to 1990, inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The value of gross agricultural output has almost doubled in nominal terms in the period from 1980 to 1989. During this period the volume of gross agricultural output has increased by approximately 18 per cent. Overall farm income is estimated to have increased from £663.5 million in 1980 to £1,721 million in 1989.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I would like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the three Offaly farmers who are in jail, and the reasons for seeking to have changes made in the TB eradication scheme.

I will communicate with Deputy Enright in respect of that matter.

I would like to protest at the decision by the Minister for Industry and Commerce to transfer a question which I had down——

Sorry Deputy Creed, that is not in order.

A question to the Minister for Industry and Commerce that has been allowed——

That is not in order now, Deputy Creed.

——with regard to Ballybay Meats——

What the Deputy refers to is a normal procedure in this House.

Is it in order to refer the matter to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges?

The Deputy is quite in order to proceed along those lines.
