56 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of investigations commenced and prosecutions initiated arising from alleged abuses of the milk quota system in this country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Any alleged abuses of the milk quota system which are reported to my Department, or that come to light as part of the Department's regular checks on the operation of the system, are investigated and where these have been confirmed the penalties laid down have been imposed. It has not been necessary to initiate prosecutions in any of these cases.
