21 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of new industries started up in Ireland in 1989; the number of jobs in those industries; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Based on the results of the annual employment surveys carried out by the industrial promotion agencies, I understand that 480 new manufacturing and internationally trading service industries started up in Ireland in 1989. The total number employed in these projects at the end of 1989 was over 3,600.
