Written Answers. - Property Registration Application.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

122 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Justice when a property transaction will be completed in the Land Registry in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact that the person is on expensive bridging finance for his mortgage due to the delay; and if he will expedite same.

I have been informed by the Registrar of Titles that there is no record in the Land Registry of an application for registration in respect of the folio quoted by the Deputy.

However, a query regarding a possible application for registration was received in the Land Registry on 8 February 1990 from a solicitor acting on behalf of the person referred to in the question. A reply to that letter issued on 9 February 1990.

As I have indicated to the House on previous occasions in response to Dáil Questions, it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist. Cases of this nature can be considered where applications are lodged and details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the registrar.
