Vol. 397 No. 6
162 Mr. Pattison asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the building proposals at Piltown national school, County Kilkenny.
A major extension to Piltown National School, County Kilkenny was proposed in 1985 but it was not possible for it to proceed because of the cost which would have been involved. The question of the project's proceeding on a modified basis is being considered in the context of the available capital and a decision in this regard will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.
163 Mr. Pattison asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the provision of a remedial teacher for Piltown National School, County Kilkenny.
I have sanctioned during 1989-90 an additional 30 remedial teachers for primary schools to supplement the existing cadre of some 850 remedial teachers. I will be keeping the appointment of further remedial teachers in primary schools under review.
