Vol. 397 No. 6

Written Answers. - Payment Award to Teacher.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

166 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who is a part-time teacher was refused pro rata pay and conditions; and if, in view of the fact that this teacher has sat and passed the Irish examination, she will agree to have the award paid.

The part-time teacher in question was not admitted to the scheme of pro-rata pay and conditions for eligible part-time teachers in the 1989/90 school year as he did not satisfy in full the conditions for eligibility under the terms of the scheme having lacked the necessary qualification in Irish.

My Department understands that the teacher in question has since acquired the necessary Irish qualification which would make him eligible for admission to this scheme from the start of the 1990/91 school year.
