Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Herd Number County Westmeath Application.

Dick Spring

Ceist:

148 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath has been refused a herd number in his own name.

The allocation of herd numbers is a purely administrative arrangement which is operated in the interest of disease eradication. Each herd number must correspond to a herd managed at all times as a separate unit with separate farm equipment, housing and fodder.

It is not possible to issue a separate herd number in this case since the person concerned does not meet the relevant conditions.
