198 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Justice if he will clarify the up-to-date situation regarding the application for citizenship in April 1988 by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14 who followed all the procedures laid down, but has been unable in the meantime to obtain any information regarding the progress of the application.

The person mentioned does not at present have the statutory residence requirement and accordingly is not eligible for naturalisation. The person concerned has recently been informed of the position.
