Ceist:282 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will establish in his Department an information and advice service for members of local authorities.

The provision of information and advice to local authority members is legally a matter for the city or county manager in each case. I am satisfied that members are generally well served in this regard.
Any increased co-ordination which might be desirable at national level could best be pursued through the two representative bodies of local authority members, the General Council of County Councils and the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland.
