Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Statistics on Man-Days Lost.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

91 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Finance the number of days lost through industrial action in areas under the control of the Revenue Commissioners, such as local tax offices, the Office of the Inspector of Taxes, the Collector General's Office and Dublin Castle, for each of the years from 1986 to 1989, inclusive, and the causes of these disputes.

The number of days lost through industrial action in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners for each of the years 1986 to 1989, inclusive, were as follows:

Year

Number of days lost

1986

Nil

1987

2,733

1988

2,279

1989

Nil

The above days were lost because of walk-outs by clerical staff arising from complaints about the air-conditioning and heating system in the Office of the Collector-General, Teach Earlsfort, Hatch Street, Dublin 2. The office did not close.
