99 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary will pay more income tax in the 1990-91 financial year despite there being no change in his financial circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the certificate of tax-free allowances issued to the taxpayer on 28 February 1990 is correct in accordance with the latest information available to the inspector of taxes and on the basis of the last return of income completed by the taxpayer, i.e. that for the income tax year 1986-87. The inspector has issued a return of income form to the taxpayer for completion and on receipt of that form, duly completed, his tax position will be brought up to date.
