Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - Study Abroad.

John Bruton

Ceist:

212 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the Irish universities currently participating in the EC programme for experimental recognition of periods of study spent abroad in (1) business management, (2) history, (3) medicine, (4) chemistry and (5) mechanical engineering.

I assume that the Deputy's question refers to the ERASMUS ECTS (European Community Course Credit Transfer System).

This is a six year pilot scheme. The Irish institutions selected to participate in the scheme and the designated subject area in each institution are as follows: University of Limerick, Business Management; University College Cork, History; University College Dublin, Medicine; Dublin City University, Chemistry; Regional Technical College Galway, Mechanical Engineering.
