Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Dublin Schools Accommodation.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

232 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Education if she will make a statement regarding the need for additional accommodation at Rivermeade National School, St. Margaret's, County Dublin; and when she will sanction this accommodation.

The accommodation at St. Margaret's National School, Toberburr, County Dublin consists of six permanent classrooms, a general purposes room, a principal's office, a staff room library and stores, in a building provided in 1981, and two prefabricated classrooms. There is a staff of a teaching principal, five assistant teachers and a remedial teacher.

The school authorities have requested an extension to the school to accommodate a remedial room and a strong room. The matter is being considered in the context of the facilities available at the school and the budgetary situation. A decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.

Ceist:

233 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Education, in relation to the recent extension of Donabate National School, County Dublin, if the outstanding payment has been made to the contractor; and if not, the reason.

Substantial payments of grant have been made to the authorities of Donabate National School, County Dublin on foot of the final accounts submitted for the project. The accounts contained a number of additional items which needed clarification from the point of view of grant eligibility and a decision will be taken in this regard at the earliest possible date. Meanwhile, arrangements are in hands to pay a further substantial instalment of grant to the school authorities.
