Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork-Kerry Hospital Building Projects.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

31 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will carry out a public inquiry into the construction projects at Cork Regional Hospital and Tralee Regional Hospital. County Kerry where serious faults arose in both buildings subsequently; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The repair of the brickwork at Cork Regional Hospital and Tralee General Hospital is a matter for the Southern Health Board in the first instance. The remedial work which was required at Cork has been satisfactorily completed at no cost to public funds and the work required at Tralee is now virtually completed free of charge. I am satisfied that the board has taken the necessary steps to have the situation remedied in these cases and I do not consider it necessary to have any inquiry held in the matter.
