38 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health if any discussions or representations have been made to him by other Departments, in view of the difficulty of filling the position of Medical Director for Prisons; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The recruitment of a Medical Director for Prisons is a matter for the Minister for Justice. Discussions have been held at official level between the Department of Justice and my Department regarding the terms and conditions for this post. My Department will be prepared to offer whatever further assistance it can in this matter if so required.
