Vol. 398 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ballycotton (Cork) Pier.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

99 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Marine the amount of money which he will allocate to Cork County Council to carry out the necessary repair work to Ballycotton Pier; and when this work will commence.

The Department of the Marine has been allocated £3 million, from the exceptional storm damage fund of £8 million, for its share of the cost of restoration works at commercial harbours, local authority piers and harbours and for other marine damage resulting from recent storms. These funds are being allocated in the form of grant assistance to local authorities who will be responsible for any remedial works. County Councils, including Cork County Council, have recently been asked to submit their applications for grant assistance and the amount of the grant to be paid in respect of Ballycotton pier will be finalised as soon as the details are received.
