Ceist:65 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce legislation to give the gardaí powers to dispossess under-age drinkers of alcoholic drink; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under section 37 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988, the gardaí already have powers to seize, detain and remove any bottle or container suspected of containing intoxicating liquor in the possession of a person under 18 years of age in any place other than an occupied private residence.
