Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Access Facilities for Disabled Persons.

John Bruton

Ceist:

168 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Communications if he will list the offices used by his Department to which easy access by means of ramps and lifts does not exist for those using wheelchairs; the services provided in these offices; and the plans to improve access.

The only office used by the Department of Communications which is not accessible to wheelchair users, because of the lack of a ramp or lift from ground level is Scotch House, Hawkins Street, Dublin 2, which houses the secretariat, and the postal, telecommunications and radio and broadcasting divisions of the Department. The question of improving access to Scotch House is a complex one, because of the location and structure of the building and is currently being addressed in the light of usage of the building.
