Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Access Facilities for Disabled Persons.

John Bruton

Ceist:

181 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he will list the offices used by his Department to which easy access by means of ramps and lifts does not exist for those using wheelchairs; the services provided in these offices; and the plans to improve access.

Easy access for the disabled is available in the main offices of my Department in Dublin, Ballina and Shannon. My Department also operates 47 driving test centres in various locations throughout the country. While many of these centres do not have easy access for physically handicapped people, it is not considered necessary to provide such access as special arrangements are made for handicapped persons taking the driving test.
