Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Reopening of Hospital Ward.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

207 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the undertaking given by him that hospital wards which were closed in 1989 would be reopened in 1990, he will indicate when the reopening of such a ward will be made at Kilcreene Orthopaedic Hospital, Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A 30 bed ward in Kilcreene Orthopaedic Hospital has been prepared for reopening and is now fully equipped. The SouthEastern Health Board have informed me that the date of reopening has, however, been affected by the absence of a full consultant medical team. It is expected that a full consultant team will be in place shortly and the reopening of the ward will take place within a few weeks.
