Vol. 399 No. 1

Written Answers. - FÁS Industrial Relations Difficulties.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

39 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Labour if his attention has been drawn to the widespread dissatisfaction among the public with the operations of FÁS as a result of the poor quality of service, due to frequent industrial action in different areas; if he will outline the steps, if any, he has taken or proposes to take to improve the situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

FÁS have kept me informed of the effects the industrial relations difficulties are having on the quality of the services they are providing to the public. I regret the inconvenience being caused to the public as a result.

The difficulties in FÁS are the subject of intensive management attention. The Deputy will appreciate that I should not make any statement at this stage which might prejudice a successful resolution to the current difficulties.
