Vol. 399 No. 3

Written Answers. - PRSI Contributions by Institute of Clinical Pharmacology.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

39 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether the PRSI contributions for all the staff formerly employed by the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology have been received by his Department; and, if not, the action he proposes to take to ensure that former staff will not be disallowed unemployment benefits.

The question of collection of PRSI contributions for the staff of this company is a matter for the collector general. However, inquiries made by inspectors of my Department have established that the P.35 records for 1988-89 have been duly submitted and have been entered on Social Welfare records. The 1988-89 tax year is the governing contribution year for claims to short term and treatment benefits made during 1990.

The P.35 records for 1989-90 and for 1990-91, to date of receivership, are being dealt with by the receiver and will be submitted to the Collector General shortly. Arrangements have also been made to have the social insurance records of the various employees noted in my Department. This will ensure that any claim to a pension, which might rely on the more recent contributions will not be delayed or disadvantaged.
