Vol. 399 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ordnance Survey Office.

Brian Cowen

Ceist:

50 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Finance if a management report submitted to his Department recommends that a regional structure be set up for the Ordnance Survey; his views on the merits of this recommendation; if he will outline the proposed timescale for its implementation; if the midlands region is to be serviced by offices in Tullamore, County Offaly; and if Tullamore is the recommended location contained in the management report for the siting of the midlands regional office.

Management of the Ordnance Survey has, at my direction, prepared a report on the possibilities and implications of setting up a number of regional offices. This report raises important cost and operational issues and my officials have sought clarification on a number of points from Ordnance Survey management. Until all relevant data has been established and considered it would be inappropriate to make any further comment in the matter.
