Vol. 399 No. 4

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Touche Ross Report.

Jim Mitchell

Ceist:

7 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Communications if he will publish the Touche Ross report into the viability of alternative broadcasting commissioned with his permission by the interim Independent Local Radio Commission; the date of the report; and if it was taken into consideration by him prior to deciding to extend the legislation to include an independent national radio service.

It is not my intention to publish the Touche Ross report. All relevant information including the findings of the Touche Ross report were taken into consideration by me in formulating proposals for the independent broadcasting legislation.

Has the Minister something to hide? Is that the reason he will not publish the report?

It was brought forward during Deputy Mitchell's time in office and if he wanted to publish it he could have done so.
