Vol. 399 No. 4

Written Answers. - Family Court Consultation Rooms.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

83 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the fact that public consultation rooms at Ó Dálaigh Court House, Dublin 7 are at present occupied by Department officials resulting in a lack of privacy for consultation purposes on the part of persons engaged in family law proceedings at Circuit and High Court level; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that one of the four consultation rooms in the Family Court area of Aras Uí Dhálaigh is temporarily occupied by court staff while the Office of Public Works is dealing with a ventilation problem in their normal accommodation. It is expected that the work involved will be completed within a fortnight when the room in question will again be made available for consultation purposes.

I do not see that the temporary unavailability of this room is creating any particular problem in a situation where three other rooms are specifically provided as consultation rooms and where further rooms are available which could, if needed, be used for that purpose.
