Vol. 399 No. 5

Written Answers. - Lyons House Preservation Order.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

59 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance whether there is a preservation order in respect of Lyons House, Celbridge, County Kildare; if a preservation order applied to any of the property at Lyons Farm including outbuildings; if it is proposed to effect such an order in view of the impending sale of part thereof; if it is intended to ensure the preservation of Lyons House; if any funds are available to assist in its preservation; if any proposed or future developments are likely to militate against the preservation of the cultural, architectural or historic values of the property; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A preservation order under the National Monuments Acts has not been made in respect of this property. I understand that the house is listed for preservation in the Kildare county development plan and further protection under the National Monuments Acts is not considered necessary. As the house is currently being sold the matter of its future development and availability of funds for its preservation do not arise at this stage.
