Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ambulance Cardiac Equipment.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Ceist:

143 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his Department's policy regarding the provision of cardiac equipment in ambulances; if his Department has assessed the benefit of such equipment, taking into account the fact that Dublin ambulances are using this equipment for a number of years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of ambulance services is a matter for each health board in the first instance. A cardiac ambulance service has operated in the Dublin area on a pilot basis for a number of years. Reports on the operation of this service have been sent to my Department and there is an on-going assessment of the service.
