Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Transport Facilities.

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

152 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education if she will review the school transport facilities of a school (details supplied) in County Meath, as children are being left unsupervised for long periods; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that the pupils availing of transport facilities to the school in question have a reasonable standard of service in the context of the general operation of the school transport scheme and that the waiting periods are not excessive.

National schools are locally controlled and it is the responsibility of the local management to make satisfactory arrangements for the care and supervision of pupils while on the school premises.
