24 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Health whether speech therapy services will be extended to St. Angela's language and learning unit, Scoil Chaitriona, Baggot Street, Dublin 2, on the same basis as in other language and learning units in the Eastern Health Board's functional area.
The Eastern Health Board have an approved complement of 24 speech therapists with seven unfilled posts at present due to difficulties in recruiting qualified therapists who are in short supply. However, following a recent competition, six speech therapists are due to commence employment with the board in September next. The board will review their speech therapy services for St. Angela's unit in the light of these appointments.
