Officials of my Department have met with the representative of the Boyne Research Institute to discuss the institute's proposal to specialise in epidemiological studies of problems in relation to human fertility.
As research in this area is already being funded by the Health Research Board, the institute have been advised to approach the board and the Faculty of Community Medicine to ensure that there is no duplication of research effort and for an evaluation of the institute's research proposals. The question of funding will be addressed in the light of the outcome of this evaluation.
