Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - Renal Dialysis Treatment.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

52 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the severe shortage of renal dialysis treatment facilities in Letterkenny General Hospital, County Donegal; and if he will make adequate resources available in order that patients can obtain this treatment in Donegal rather than having to travel to Dublin for it.

The responsibility for providing renal dialysis services at Letterkenny General Hospital is a matter for the North-Western Health Board in the first instance. The level of service required for kidney dialysis tends to vary from time to time and has recently increased at Letterkenny. I understand that the board have made the necessary arrangements to provide for the increased demand.
