Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - Civil Service Decentralisation.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Ceist:

73 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of his decision to relocate a Government Department in Cork, he will outline which Department he is considering; if he has had any contact with Cork Corporation regarding its location; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy is aware, the Government recently announced its decision to extend the decentralisation programme to five additional centres throughout the country, with Cork city being one of these centres.

Neither the time-scale envisaged for completion of this extended programme nor the details concerning Departments-Offices, numbers of staff, etc., to be transferred to each of the locations have, as yet, been considered.

However, in the interim the Office of Public Works has been in contact with Cork Corporation, as recently as last week, to discuss provision of a suitable site in Cork city.
