Vol. 399 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dingle (Kerry) Harbour Development.

Madeleine Taylor-Quinn

Ceist:

103 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline (a) under what terms and what procedure the Dingle Harbour Commissioners handed over control to his Department of dredging works to be carried out in Dingle Harbour (b) the duration of the transfer (c) if all agreed works were completed and (d) if any additional work, over that agreed, was carried out on the occasion.

The development at Dingle Harbour was conducted by the Department of the Marine as a joint project with Roinn na Gaeltachta, following consultation with Dingle Harbour Commissioners.

The dredging works were at all stages under the direct control of my Department. All dredging works specified were completed, and no additional dredging was undertaken as part of that project.

Ceist:

104 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for the Marine if a meeting was sought with him by Dingle Harbour Commissioners and Dingle Chamber of Commerce; the dates on which such meetings were sought; if he is in a position to agree a date for such meetings; and if not, if he is in a position to make a statement on the matter of a foreshore licence (details supplied) of a person in County Kerry.

Dingle Chamber of Commerce have sought meetings with me in letters dated 5 April, 27 April and 3 May 1990, to discuss the siting of a marina at Dingle, County Kerry. I am at present considering the issues raised in these letters and will contact the chamber regarding a possible meeting shortly.

As regard the issue of a foreshore licence, I am at present investigating this matter.
