127 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the number of house improvement grant approvals in County Meath which were not applied for before the scheme was terminated by him on 31 May 1990; and if he will introduce a new grant scheme for those houses still in need of repair.
In County Meath, about 580 applicants, 18 per cent who had obtained approval to a house improvement grant under the 1985 scheme had not submitted claims for payment by 31 May 1990; this proportion is not out of line with experience on previous schemes.
There are no proposals, at present, for the introduction of a further scheme of house improvement grants.
