It is not the practice for Ministers for Justice to make statements to the House about individual Garda operations except in singular instances where the circumstances are so exceptional that such a course is deemed appropriate.
In this case I consider it right that I should place on record that the implication contained in the question is completely without foundation. The chief executive officer of St. Michael's House, in fact made a point of writing to the local Garda superintendent to express thanks to the Garda Síochána for their prompt response to all requests for assistance, for their general vigilance and the extra supervision provided and for their support, encouragement and understanding throughout the difficulties which the residents and staff at St. Michael's House had to contend with.
It is regrettable that Garda service which attracted such a tribute from the people concerned should be so misrepresented by the Deputy. It is a matter for the St. Michael's House authorities to decide what arrangements would best serve the interests of the residents.
