Vol. 399 No. 11

Written Answers. - Grant Capital Scheme.

William Cotter

Ceist:

79 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Education if she will grant aid Toome Gaelic Football Club, Broomfield, Castleblayney, County Monaghan under the recreational/amenities grants scheme; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It has not been possible to provide a grant for Toome GAA Club under the capital grant scheme for the provision of recreational facilities.

However, a grant of £10,000 has been allocated to Toome Community Centre, County Monaghan, under the scheme and it is understood from the grant application submitted by Toome Community Development Committee that Toome GAA Club will avail of the facilities provided at the centre.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

80 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Education if she will make an allocation of funds to Castlerahan Gaelic Football Club, County Cavan, for the development of their football pitch, dressing rooms, car park and stand at Bally-jamesduff, County Cavan.

The present position with regard to capital grant applications is that in 1989 the Government decided to amalgamate the lottery funded capital grant scheme and the amenity grant scheme operated by the Department of the Environment into a single scheme. Under the new arrangements, the Minister of the Environment will allocate grants to projects recommended by local authorities who will also be responsible for processing the applications.

All grant applications should now be forwarded to the relevant local authorities for consideration under the new scheme.
