59 Mr. Quinn asked the asked the Taoiseach, in respect of the Government-sponsored EUROPEN campaign, the action he has taken within his Department to ensure Ireland's preparedness for 1992; if, as recommended, he has appointed a person in his Department with specific responsibility for 1992; if that person has developed and promoted a programme of work/activities in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of 28 November 1989 and to my oral reply to his question of today on the EUROPEN campaign. As these indicated, the programme of work and activities they set out was developed and promoted by the EUROPEN Bureau established in my Department to which a full-time director was appointed. The responsibility for continuing activity under the programme initiated by the bureau now lies with the international division of my Department.
